It explores how we come to know water through different forms of data, memory and ecological sensing.&nbsp; Drawing on ten days of marine data from the port cities of Porto Alegre and Liverpool, the work transforms temperature, salinity and other environmental measurements into an abstract digital seascape. Alongside these scientific records are fragments of generational weather knowledge, local observations of wind, clouds and rain that are carried through memory rather than machines. Long-used in traditional Chinese medicine, Kudzu was introduced to the West in the early twentieth-century for farming uses, and later considered an invasive species to be controlled. In this work, Dongni blends elements of speculative fiction, archival footage and computer generated imagery to reimagine the Kudzu plant’s migration story within the Stanley Dock area of Liverpool, an important site for trading during the British Empire. The work reflects on the responses and rebellions of natural ecosystems alongside the construction of urban landscapes, and how these often go beyond human control. By imagining the Kudzu plant growing in Liverpool’s North docks and abandoned factories, Dongni asks us to consider the closely intertwined relationship between the natural and human environment, and to rethink power dynamics between humans and non-humans when it comes to movement and migration. Dongni Liang invited people to join her at Netherton Library and imagine what the more-than-human objects and plants would say about our environment in Sefton if they could speak, questioning our relationship to other species and objects. Placing ourselves in their shoes, Dongni asked us questions to guide our imaginings in what they might think and feel. In this work, Dongni brings together the responses as a short video containing drawings, sculptures and voice recordings from participants with digital videos of the objects and plants. From lichens and moss, to laminated photos and park benches - explore the imagined words of our surroundings and their commentary on air quality. With the rise of digital media and technology, our lives are more connected than ever before, but at the same time, our connections can often feel fragmented and disjointed. This is the context in which the AR project Do You Get Me Now seeks to explore the challenges of communication and language in the digital age. Do You Get Me Now offers a powerful and timely commentary on the challenges of communication and language in the digital age. By using AR technology to create a truly immersive and thought-provoking experience, the project encourages us to reflect on the ways in which we connect and communicate with others, and to consider the impact that technology has had on our ability to truly understand and connect with one another. As we navigate an ever-changing and complex world, it is more important than ever to consider the fundamental importance of human connection and the role that language and communication play in our lives. By immersing viewers in this otherworldly space, Do You Get Me Now encourages us to consider the impact that technology has had on our ability to truly connect with one another. While digital technology has undoubtedly made it easier to communicate with others, it has also created new barriers and challenges to effective communication. Field recordings and found sounds formed the sonic palette and emotional atmosphere of M T Hall’s sound design; blending spliced and processed live recorded sounds with analogue synthesis and digital production. Post.liang gathered raw footage from Crosby Beach and Formby National Park, combining source material with computer generated 3D imaging. Produced in two parts, a call and response methodology influenced the making of the work, with each artist initiating the process to create new co-imagined audio-visual worlds. It delves into the complex relationship between humanity and the environment. Through a combination of CGI moving images and real footage, this project presents a tangible representation of the damage that we have inflicted on our planet. At the same time, it explores the concept of the ghost, visually interpreted as petroleum, a substance that has come to symbolize the paradox of our relationship with the natural world. By layering these concepts, Hybrid Ecologies seeks to challenge our preconceptions of the natural world and its relationship to our own existence.&nbsp;
